1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, listing produce, or placing an order on SokoShamba, you agree to these Terms of Service. SokoShamba is operated by VirrTech, founded by Ryan Lagat.

2. The Marketplace Model

SokoShamba connects Kenyan agricultural producers (Farmers), produce purchasers (Buyers), and logistics providers (Transporters). All produce sales, pricing, and quantities are set directly by verified sellers.

3. Financial Model & 3-Day Escrow Settlement SLA

  • Buyer Payment: Buyers pay 100% upfront (Produce Subtotal + SokoShamba Service Fee + Calculated Delivery Fare) into SokoShamba's secure escrow bank account via Paystack Live or verified M-Pesa.
  • Farmer Commission: SokoShamba deducts a transparent 5% platform commission from the produce subtotal upon successful trade.
  • 3-Day Settlement Guarantee: Within 3 business days of delivery confirmation, SokoShamba disburses the 95% Farmer Net Payout and Driver Fare directly to the registered M-Pesa phone numbers. SokoShamba does not withhold user funds permanently.

4. Delivery & Transport Policy

All marketplace orders are fulfilled through SokoShamba's managed delivery service. Direct uncoordinated pickup between buyer and farmer is not supported to ensure escrow security and prevent trade disputes. SokoShamba operations coordinates harvest verification, sources the vehicle, assigns the closest transporter, and notifies the buyer of arrival time.

5. Custom Delivery Quotations

For orders to remote counties or cargo exceeding standard volume/distance limits, SokoShamba administrators calculate and provide custom freight quotations.

6. Dispute Resolution

If produce received does not match the published listing description or quality grade, the buyer must report the issue within 24 hours of delivery. SokoShamba administration will mediate the trade and issue refunds or adjustments from escrow where appropriate.
